Do We Need Role Models?
Start Time: Thursday 19th February 2009. 06:30:PM
The Space, Willesden Green Library Centre, London NW10 2SFAn open discussion with special guests examining the value of role models, and identifying British African role models over the last century
The issue of role models has been placed in the spotlight of late within the British African community. Particularly with the launch of the Government-backed REACH initiative.
BTWSC is running a Heritage Lottery Funded initiative called NARM (Naming And Role Models), which is currently asking the general public to nominate British African male role models from 1907-2007, which will be used in a DVD and booklet, and the information will be updated on a microsite. For more information or to make a nomination: www.btwsc.com/NARM.
This discussion is an open forum to hear the different shades of views on the need or value of role models. The focus will be on British role models.
Youths, parents and teachers are especially welcome. Please use the Book Now link below to book.
We look forward to seeing you for an invigorating discussion. If you can not attend, you are welcome to email your views or a paper using the Feedback Form below, which we'll endeavour to input into discussion, and may add to the NARM resources.
